Sheila Emma Duran, 77, Grand Junction,
died Dec. 15, 2016, at HopeWest and Hospice Care
Center.
Services will take place at 11 a.m. Thursday at
St. Joseph Catholic Church.
She was an electronics assembler in manufacturing.
She is survived by one son, Rick of Grand Junction;
three daughters, Sherry Duran and Sharon
Duran, both of Grand Junction, and Shelly Duran
of Springfield, Missouri; three brothers, Peter
Echave, Curtis Flores and Pep Flores, all of
Grand Junction; two sisters, Pilar Lopez and Marie
Flores, both of Denver; seven grandchildren;
and 11 great-grandchildren.

Sheila Emma Duran, age 77,
died December 15, 2016
following an illness with
Pancreatic Cancer.
She was born October 6,
1939, in Grand Junction,
Colorado. She was the
daughter of the late Pedro
Echave and Lugarda Velarde.
She attended Grand Junction
High School.
Sheila worked for Ultronix and Dixon’s Incorporated in Grand
Junction for most of her life. She retired from the work force in
2004.
Sheila was an avid Bingo player and spent many hours
daubing with her Bingo friends. She enjoyed watching sports
especially if her children and grandchild were participants.
Sheila was very friendly and loved people. She was very
dedicated to her family and loved spending time with her
children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Sheila along
with her late husband, Rudy, had a love for the outdoors. Many
weekends were spent in the local mountain areas. She had a
passion for traveling with family and friends to a few favorite
spots; Las Vegas, Cruising the Mediterranean or a beloved
birthday trip to New York City.
Sheila was preceded in death by her mother and father, her late
husband, Rudy Duran, and her son, James Duran. She is
survived by her children, Rick Duran, Sherry Duran and Sharon
Duran-Neff (Hyrum) all of Grand Junction and Shelly Duran of
Springfield, MO; grandchildren, Michael Foster, Shilo Sullivan,
Michael Passero, Rudy Duran, Anthony Passero, Christina
Lively, and Cody Passero all of Grand Junction. Sheila also had
11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 22, 2016, at
11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with a luncheon
following in the Parrish Hall.
Family requests in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to
HopeWest Hospice of Grand Junction, Colorado in the name of
Sheila Duran.
Services have been entrusted to Browns Cremation and
Funeral Services,
