Prominent Citizen Dies Sunday
GEO. W. GRANT PASSED AWAY AFTER SHORT ILLNESS-BURIED IN EAGLE WEDNESDAY.
Funeral services were held in Eagle Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 22 for the late George Grant, who passed away in a Glenwood hospital Saturday evening, following a short illness. Arrangements for burial were made under direction of the Andre Funeral home, and Rev. Paul Shields delivered the funeral sermon. Interment was in the Eagle cemetery. George Washington Adams Grant was born Sept. 17, 1878, in Brookfield, Mo., to Mr. and Mrs. James Grant. One of seven children, Mr. Grant was preceded in death by his parents and five sisters and brothers He had been a resident of Colorado •since young manhood, and was united in marriage to Miss Luella Craig on October 2, 1907, in Manitou, Colo. To this union two children were born: a son, Eugene, and a daughter, Laurene. Mr. and Mrs. Grant moved to Eagle in 1913, and have made their home here almost continuously since that time. He had always taken a very active part in county and municipal politics, and civic organizations, and followed the trade of a carpenter and contractor. • While Mr. Grant had been seriously sick a few years back, his health had been greatly improved in recent months and his illness was a shock to his many friends. -He became ill three weeks ago, and had been a patient in the hospital nine days when he died . Survviing are the widow, Luella Grant; a daughter, Laurene Knupp: a son, Eugene Grant; three grandsons and one granddaughter all of Eagle. One brother, William Grant, resides in Rosemeade, Calif., and was unable to attend the funeral because of illness. Mrs. Esther Craig of Colorado Springs, sister-in-law to Mrs. Grant, and Eugene Craig, brother, and Mrs. Craig of Avoca, lowa, arrived for the services Wednesday.
