Dale G. Klatt
December 10, 1927 - February 28, 2017
Dale G. Klatt passed away peacefully on February 28, 2017, at HopeWest Hospice.
Dale was born on December 10, 1927, to Charles and Rhoda Klatt in Paonia, Colorado. He attended Stewart Mesa School through the eighth grade, graduating from Paonia High School in 1945. After graduation he was drafted into the US Army, his service in the military brought
him great pride. He went to work for the Bureau of Reclamation
as a surveyor, after his discharge.
Dale married Elaine Connell on May 21, 1949. His job took
them to several towns in the western United States, where they
raised their daughters and made many friends. After his
retirement, they spent their summers fishing on Blue Mesa and
their winters in Yuma, Arizona and Las Vegas, Nevada.
Dale is survived by his sister, Ruth (Ed) Pryor of Paonia;
daughters, Barbara Ward, Brenda Young, Beverly (George)
Salazar, and Patricia Kirby, all of Grand Junction; seven
grandchildren, Rhonda (Rodger) Rowin, Ron Ward, Kenneth
(Leisha) Young, Nicholas (Cecily) Salazar, Justin (Andrea)
Salazar, Jordan Salazar, Vicki (Greg) Wolf; 11 greatgrandchildren, Rowin, Ryan Rowin, Sydney Ward,
Chloe Ward, Zack Thompson, Ashley Young, Emily Young,
Jacob Young, Zachary Young, Emiliano Salazar and Oscar
Salazar. Dale is also survived by many nieces and nephews
along with a great group of McDonald’s coffee friends and some
pretty special friends from Randy’s Southside Diner.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Elaine, and
brothers, Carl Klatt and Gerald Klatt.
Memorial Graveside services will be held Friday, March 10,
2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 2970 North
Avenue, Grand Junction, CO.
