Grand Junction Daily Sentinel page 7B Obituary - April 12, 2017

Beloved husband, father, and
grandfather, William "Bill"
Thomas Kowal of Grand
Junction, Colorado passed
away April 2, 2017 after a six
month battle with cancer.
Bill was born January 16,
1933, in Gary, Indiana to
Henry and Helen Kowal. He
graduated from Lew Wallace High School, Gary, Indiana.
Bill joined the U.S. Navy and served honorably during the
Korean War. He then graduated in aerospace engineering from
Purdue University in 1958 where he met and married his
sweetheart, Nancy Helen Robertson, August 24, 1957. This year
would have been their 60th wedding anniversary. They moved
to Seattle, WA where he began his 32 year career as an
aerospace engineer for the Boeing Co. Field assignments
allowed them to live in many states including an eight year stay
in Florida to work on the Apollo program to the moon.
He had a passion for golf and tracking the stock market as well
as woodworking, crossword puzzles, and anything to do with
problem solving. We will miss his lively and humorous
discussions about sports, taxes, and politics.
Bill is survived by his loving wife, Nancy; sons, Tom (Sheila);
Bob (Joani), and Jeff (Julie); six grandchildren, Nick, Kurt,
Megan (Taylor) Bingham, Parker, David, and Brayden; greatgrandchild,
Jameson, and sister, Dolores Luke.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Redlands
United Methodist Church, 527 Village Way, Grand Junction,
CO, 81507.
