Grand Junction Daily Sentinel page 8A Obituary - April 14, 2017

Our loving husband, dad and
Papa, Gene Kerr, passed away
April 1, 2017.
Gene was born in Checotah,
Oklahoma on December 4,
1949. He was the son of the
late Billy J. Kerr and Lou E.
Greenmyer. He grew up in
Palisade and graduated from
Palisade High School.
Gene serviced in the Army
in Korea during the Vietnam War.
After returning from the service, he worked for the National
Defense Agency on Glade Park while they did nuclear testing,
then drove for Railway Express Agency, UPS, and owned and
operated his own dump truck for 30 years.
Gene was a man who loved his family and friends. While
horses, fishing, hunting, motorcycles, and sports were on his list
of things to do, porch sitting with family and friends is what
made his day.
Geno, as he was known to his friends, was a man of integrity
and few words. He was very generous, had a good sense of
humor, and hardworking. He over loved (spoiled) his
“Puddin’s” granddaughters and great-granddaughters, Alexis
Eaton (Bobby), Tavi Waldschmidt (Joe), Stati Clark (Steve),
Aylin and Amelia Eaton.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Connie
Waller and Goetta Lance.
He is survived by his wife, Frani; son, Shane (Wendy); stepdaughter,
Roni Schwinn (Doug); siblings, James Kerr (Denise),
Randy Kerr (Pam), Frank Kerr (Teri), and Karen Bain, and
numerous nieces and nephews. We are proud to call him
husband, dad, Papa, brother, uncle and a true friend. We love
and miss you.
Memorial services will be Friday, April 14th at 1:00 p.m. at the
Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
Memorial contributions to the Veterans Memorial Cemetery of
Western Colorado, 2830 Parkway, Grand Junction, CO 81501 or
the charity of your choice.
We are thankful Geno was a part of our lives and he will
always be in our hearts.
