John Gear
December 5, 1940 - April 27, 2017
John Robert Gear "Bob",
age 76, passed away on April
27, 2017, with his loving wife
at his side.
He is survived by his wife,
Connie; two sisters; two
brothers; two sons; two stepdaughters,
and one step-son;
14 grand and great-grandsons
and one great-granddaughter.
Bob received a football
scholarship after graduation from high school. He attended four
colleges culminating in a Masters degree from Western State
College in Gunnison, Colorado. He taught at Grand Junction
High School, Grand Junction, Colorado for 32 years. While at
Grand Junction High School, he coached football, baseball and
golf. While attending Mesa Junior College, Bob pitched in the
first Junior College World Series (JUCO) held in Grand
Junction, Colorado.
He served in the Marine Corps and was an avid Notre Dame
fan.
There will be a Celebration of Life at the Gear family home in
Jacksonville, Florida on May 3, 2017, from 11:00 a.m. - 4:00
p.m.
