Marvel S. Becker
July 15, 1929 - March 18, 2017
Loving wife, mother, grandmother, and greatgrandmother, Marvel S. Becker, passed from this life on March 18, 2017.
She was born in Artesia, CA to Earl and Eloise Schuck and was raised in Palo Alto with her sister, June. Marvel graduated high school in Santa Cruz, CA.
Marvel married Jack Becker in 1953 and lived in Denver, CO for many years. She worked for St. Lukes Hospital. In 1974, they moved their family to Grand Junction, CO, where they owned and operated ServiceMaster. Marvel was an instrumental part of their business, handling all administrative work.
Mom lost her husband, Jack, in 1985 and her son, John, in 1989. She loved them both so very much and missed them terribly everyday. Mom adored her pets, especially her dear darling kitty cats. She enjoyed her home, and found solace working in her flower gardens. She was very proud of her pretty yard. Mom loved to dance and also had great fun going on the gambling flights to Elko, Nevada and playing the Colorado Lottery. She is one of the original Bronco Boosters and never missed a game. For over 40 years, mom has lived next door to a wonderful friend and neighbor, Robert Lucas.
They spent many evenings drinking a beer and sharing their
stories. The family will be forever grateful to him.
Mom’s love for her children was enormous. She watched over
us and worried more than she should have. She has left behind
sons, Bill Becker of CA; Michael Becker of FL; daughter, Dana
Becker of Grand Junction; three grandchildren, and one greatgrandchild.
When Marvel smiled, life’s pain would melt away and her
radiance would fill the room. She was small in stature, but had a
mighty heart that will be eternally missed by all who knew her.
A Life Celebration for Marvel will be held on Wednesday
March 22, 11:00 a.m. at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Roice-Hurst
Humane Society.
