Martina “Tina” Fimbres was
born December 11, 1938 to
Librado and Melinda
Martinez in Truchas, New
Mexico. She was one of 16
children. Tina passed away
Friday, April 7, 2017, at St.
Mary’s Hospital after a tough
and courageous battle with
cancer.
Tina was a strong woman who cared about nothing more than
her family. She spent the majority of her life as a homemaker,
caring for her husband and five children.
She was the beautiful and beloved wife of Joe Fimbres and
mother of surviving daughters, Jane Trujillo, Linda Fimbres,
and Deena Cooney. She was predeceased by her sons, Joey
Fimbres and Dino Fimbres, and her granddaughter, Sheena
Martinez. Tina also leaves behind siblings, Ted Martinez, Leroy
Martinez, Henry Martinez, Sadie Abeyta, Donna Talbert, and
Jane Rael; grandchildren, Tina Trujillo Castaneda, James Lanza,
Rick Martinez, and Deziree Fimbres; and 12 greatgrandchildren.
Tina was a joyful woman who loved to sing and dance. She
was loved by everyone and will be greatly missed.
A memorial Mass will be held on Thursday, April 13, at 10:00
a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 230 N. 3rd St, Grand
Junction, CO 81501.

Tina Fimbres, 78, Grand Junction, died April 7, 2017, at St.
Mary’s Hospital.
Services will take place at 10 a.m. today at St. Joseph Catholic
Church.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Joe; three daughters, Jane Trujillo,
Linda Fimbres, and Deena Cooney, all of Grand Junction;
three brothers, Ted Martinez of Canon City, Leroy Martinez of
Grand Junction, and Henry Martinez of Denver; three sisters, Sadie
Abeyta of Grand Junction, Donna Talbert of Salida, and Jane
Rael of Denver; four grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
