Paul Lopez passed away suddenly on March 16, 2017, while fishing in the Rifle Gap area.
Paul, a longtime Fruita and Grand Junction resident, was born on January 4, 1944, in Rosa, New Mexico to Manuel and Manuelita (Gallegos) Lopez.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Judy Garduno Lopez, and children, Alissa (Mat) McCoy, Santa Rosa, CA; Elena (Tamboura) Sayers, Thornton, CO; Stephen Lopez, Grand Junction, CO; James (Yolanda) Lopez, Denver, CO, and Trish (Joe) Martinez, Arvada, CO; 18 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; brothers, Julian (Judy) Lopez, Fruita, CO, and Jim (Patti) Lopez, Colorado Springs, CO, and sisters, Rose (Luis) Atencio and Trini Montoya.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Ali Lopez and
Anthony Lopez; brothers, Johnny Lopez and Don Lopez; sister,
Faye Romero and great-granddaughter, Za’Riyah Lobato.
Quite the outdoorsman, he loved to fish, hike and garden. He
always looked forward to spending time with family and seeing
all of his grandkids and great-grandkids.
A vigil and rosary will be held at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary,
Thursday, March 23, 2017, at 7:00 p.m. A funeral mass will be
held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church Friday, March 24, 2017, at
10:00 a.m.
