James L. Griest
March 2, 1943 - April 20, 2017
James L. Griest, age 74, died
following a long illness.
Jim attended Grand Junction
High School and Mesa Junior
College, majoring in
Engineering. He was also a
U.S. Army Vet and was
stationed in Okinawa, Japan.
Jim had been employed as a
Land Surveyor and
Draftsman. He enjoyed back
packing the Colorado and Utah Canyon Lands, studying Native
American Indian cultures, and was for several years a member
of the CO. Archaeology Society. When not hiking, he was
canoeing or kayaking.
Jim is survived by his daughter, Diana; brother, John (Patricia)
and his nieces and nephew. He was much loved and will be truly
missed.
Services will be at a later date.

West Hospice Care Center.
Services will be at a later date.
He was a land surveyor and Army veteran.
He is survived by one daughter, Diana Griest of Fruita; and one
brother, John of Grand Junction.
