Earl Johannbroer Drowned Near Ft. Collins Sunday

Tragedy ended the two-month old marriage of a young McCoy couple, Sunday afternoon, when the waters of an irrigation reservoir eight miles north of Ft. Collins claimed the life of 20 yearold Earl Johannwroer. The drowning occured Sunday afternoon, when a home made boat overturned in the reservoir Reports received here were that Earl Johannbroer, son of Mr. and Mrs- Wm. Johannbroer of McCoy, a sophomore at Colorado A- & M. College in Ft. Collins, with a companion. Ralph W. Carlson, 19, of Kearney, N- J., was in a converted airplane gasoline belly tank- The craft overturned as the young men paddled with brooms. Carlson tried unsuccessfully to tow Johannbroer ashore.

Earl was married March 16 to his childhood sweetheart, Erin Daniels, daughter of Mrs. Gussie Daniels of McCoy. Both young people were graduates of the McCoy Union High School where their romance blossomed and led to a church wedding two months ago in the community church of McCoy—the church from which funeral services were held Wednesday for Earl. The young people moved to Ft. Collins following their marriage, where he was a sophomore at the college. Both were prominently popular among the young people of the ArcCoy-Bond communities. Surviving also are a sister, Mrs Vema Hillen of Denver; his two grandmothers, Mrs. Lilly Ray of Steamboat Springs and Mrs. Lillie Johannbroer of Denver, his parents and his wife. Thus tragedy has claimed a third young McCoy-Bond man's life in less than a year. Jerry Orgish of McCoy, tost his life last July when he was crushed beneath a tractor and Alan Strassel of Bond was drowned in the angry Colorado River a few days later as he attempted to rescue a stranded horse.
