Donald Edward White, 84, passed away on Easter Sunday on
April 16, 2017. After a four-year battle with cancer, Don passed
away at HopeWest Hospice in Grand Junction.
Don was born in Salinas, California, and spent his early professional
life in West Texas in partnership with his father and brother
in White’s Concrete Pipe Irrigation business. Don moved his
family to the Western Slope in 1959 and spent 25 years in
Moab, Utah. He was first employed in Moab as the Manager of
a Uranium ore hauling company. The last 15 years in Moab, he
owned and operated Don’s Diesel Repair and Trucking. He
moved back to Colorado in 2000.
Don married the love if his life, Mary Adair White; they just recently
celebrated 65 years together. Adair lives in the Redlands
in Grand Junction. Other survivors are sons, David White of
Phoenix, Arizona, and Gregary Lee White of Grand Junction;
and four grandchildren living in Phoenix and Denver.
Don spent most of his life as a hard and committed worker, but
took time to enjoy camping and trips in various motorhomes
with his wife, dogs, and children. He loved all dogs, especially
the five Norwegian Elk Hounds he was privileged to own.
Though Don was a committed Christian, at death he had requested
that no public services be held.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations are sent
to HopeWest Hospice, 3090B N. 12th Street, Grand Junction,
CO 81506, for their wonderful care over the past four years, and
especially in his final hours.
