Jarrod Samuel Houston of Gypsum, an 8th grade student at Eagle Valley middle School, died Wednesday November 23 at Valley View Hopsital in Glenwood Springs after suffering from extreme hypothermia. He was 14. Jarrod was born Sept. 13, 1980 in Glenwood Springs, the son of Gary and Mindy (Cronk) Houston. He was raised and attended schools in Eagle County. Jarrod was very athletic and loved sports, especially football. He also enjoyed wrestling, snowboarding, skiing, riding his three-wheeler and spending time with his friends. He was a member of the local Boy Scouts. He will be sadly missed and long-remembered by all those who knew and loved him. Survivors include his father and step-mother, Gary and Shirley Houston fo Gypsum, one brother, Tyson Houston of Gypsum; sister Melissa Houston, three stepbrothers Micah, Jonathan, Joseph Bradley, all of Gypsum. Interment followed the funeral at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Gypsum.
