Verna Mae Clancy Hawke, 86, Grand Junction, died April 15,
2017, in Grand Junction.
Services will take place at 10:30 p.m. April 28 at the Canyon View
Vineyard Church.
She was a secretary.
Survivors include her husband, Douglas M.; one son, Rick of
Grand Junction; two daughters, Marsha Waitley of Des Moines,
Iowa, and Julie D. Kendall of Grand Junction; six grandchildren;
and two great-grandchildren.

Verna, 86, beloved wife of
Douglas M. Hawke, was born
on May 27, 1930 and passed
away on Saturday, April 15,
2017, at Mesa Manor Nursing
Home. The couple were
married for 68 wonderful
years.
Left behind to cherish her
memories are her children,
Marsha Waitley, Rick
(Barbara) and Julie (Don) Kendall. She has six grandchildren
and three great-grandchildren; sisters, Wilma (Clinton) Evans
and Joyce Burright both from Oklahoma, and many nieces and
nephews.
Verna was a secretary and a CWF leader for the First Christian
Church many years ago. She was once a deaconess at Northeast
Christian Church and was a good christian woman. She owned
Verna’s Gift Shop for 11 years and then worked as a bookkeeper
for her and Doug’s business, H & H Bentonite for ten years.
They retired and moved to Enid, OK.
Missing their children and grandchildren after 11 years they
returned to Grand Junction to enjoy their family.The family
wishes to thank all the staff at Mesa Manor for the kindness and
love shown to Verna during her short stay there.
The memorial service is on Friday, April 28, 2017, at 10:30
a.m. at Canyon View Vineyard Church Chapel, 736 24 1/2 Road,
Grand Junction, CO.
