Grand Junction Daily Sentinel page 6A Obituary - April 25, 2017
If there was one thought that Tom Peace wanted to impart as
he considered his departure from this world it was that people
have the capacity to turn their lives into something better than
they started with. Through curiosity, tenacity, and full employment
of his naturally endowed gifts Tom did just that.
Tom was born to humble beginnings in East Texas. During his
lifetime he served nine years in the military, achieving the rank
of Captain of the 11th Armored Cavalry of the 25th Infantry.
As a civilian he was an account executive for an eight-state region
for Motorola Communications assisting the Navajos to establish
their first long-range communication system, and
overseeing the communication system for the Alaska pipeline.
In retirement he and his wife, Eva, volunteered thousands of
hours for the VA Hospital in Grand Junction and for the Colorado
Division of Wildlife.
Tom’s life ended on April 21, 2017, at the age of 95. He was
preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, the love of his life,
Eva Peace.
His legacy lives on in the hearts of the lives he touched, and in
corners of the natural world he and Eva helped protect and preserve.
