George E. Stieduhar: 1926-1995
George E. Stieduhar of Kimball, Neb., died on Aug. 15, 1995. He was 68. George was born on Sept. 9, 1926 in Allison, N.M. to George and Ethel (Queary) Stieduhar. George moved to Oak Creek with his family at the age of nine. He graduated from Oak Creek High School. He graduated with a B.A. degree from the University of Denver. George served in the United States Navy during World War II on the U.S.S. Ticonderoga. On July 25, 1948 he married Marjorie Paquette in Steamboat Springs. He then worked as a department store manager for J.J. Newberry Company. The Stieduhars lived Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, Utah, Idaho and Nebraska. In 1975, they purchased the Hesteds Store at Kimball. They also owned stores in Monte Vista, Craig and Wheatland, Wyo. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, a Master Mason of the Kimball Masonic Lodge no. 294 A.F. & A.M., a member of the Kimball V.F.W. Post no. 2243 and was a member of the Oak Creek V.F.W. Post and a member of the Kimball Eagle's Club. He was an avid pilot and fisherman. He leaves his wife, Marjorie; his son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Sharon of Alamosa; daughters and son-in-law, Georgine Brinkman of Greeley and Robyn and Tim O'Brien of Kimball; parents, George and Ethel of Oak Creek, brother, Nick of Wheat Ridge; and three grandchildren, Michelle and Ronna Brinkman and Shea O'Brien.
Funeral services were held on Friday, Aug. 18, 1995 at 2 p.m. in St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Nebraska with Monsignor Carl Hayden officiating. Rosary was recited on Thursday, Aug. 17, 1995 at 7:30 p.m in the Cantrell Funeral Home in Kimball with Masonic Rites following by the Kimball Masonic Lodge no. 294 A.F. & A.M. Interment followed on Aug. 19, 1995 at 10:30 a.m. at the Oak Creek Cemetery in Oak Creek. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society and to the American Diabetes Association.
