BURDETTE LEWIS DIED
News that Burdette Lewis of Avon passed away in the Leadville hospital this week was learned by Eagle friends. There was no further information available other than cause of death was cancer.

Wayne Burdette Lewis, 64, passed away in the Leadville hospital June 25, 1962 following an illness of several years. Mr. Lewis was born October 13, 1897 at Woodland Park, CO the son of Frank A. and Charlotte Mulnix Lewis, both of who preceded him in death. He had lived in Avon for a number of years, and had been in poor health for a long time. Survivors are his brother, Lawrence D. of Avon; a sister, Mrs. Leota L. Snell of Hanover, NM; an aunt, Mrs. W.E. Bailey of Frisco, and a niece, Mrs. R.D. Pollard of Carlsbad, NM. Funeral services were conducted at the Gypsum Methodist Church by Reverend William C. Brown of Leadville June 28. Interment was in the Gypsum cemetery directed by Moynahan-O'Malia Mortuary of Leadville. Pallbearers were W.A. Gustafon, Charles Settlemeyer, T.H. Jeffries, H.A. Nottingham, W.E. Nottingham, and Frank Jones.
