Lawrence D. Lewis, 71, one of the pioneers of Avon, died August 23 at Presbyterian Hospital in Denver. Mr. Lewis was the son of Charlotte and Frank Lewis, who ran the general store at Avon years ago. he is survived by his sisters, Mrs. Leota Snell of Carlsbad, NM; a niece, Mrs. Evelyn Pollard of Santa Rosa, CA; two cousins, Pauline and Annie Mulnix of Gypsum. Graveside services were held at Cedar Hill Cemetery August 29 with Pastor Stewart of Minturn officiating.
