Eagle Valley Enterprise - April 16, 1998

Lucile Leiber, 93, died April 4 at Valley View Hospital. Lucile lived in Eagle. She taught school for many years and generations of Eagle County residents. She was active in the American Red Cross for 45 years and was instrumental in many senior citizen programs and activities. Lieber was the 1979 Citizen of the Year. She is survived by her sons, Walter H. Lieber, Jr., of Roswell, NM and Gary D. Lieber of Glenwood Springs, Colo.; daughters, Ethel Grace Borgen of Eagle, Colo., Dora Jean Phillips of Mission, TX, brother Wayne Cowden of Pleasanton, CA. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren.

Planting a Memory
Eagle senior Ethel Borgen enjoys the morning sunshine Wednesday in front of the memorial to her mother, Lucile Lieber, found of the Eagle Senior's programs. Borgen planted the flowers in front of the Golden Eagle Senior Center in memory of Lieber, who died three years ago.
