Born September 22, 1932, in
St. Louis, MO, to Erwin and
Rita Reimer, Dick passed
away on April 22, 2017.
Dick became an
accomplished baseball player,
drafted by the New York
Giants following high school.
Called to serve, he was able to
continue his passion for baseball by playing for the Lowry Air
Force base baseball team. While stationed at Lowry, Dick met
and married his wife, Diane, in Denver, CO. on October 9,
1954. Following his service, Dick and Diane moved to Grand
Junction where he played for the Eagles semi-professional team
and was employed by C.D. Smith. Dick went on to work for
Dixson, Inc. serving as company President. His love of baseball
led him to be involved in the JUCO tournament for many years.
He was inducted into the JUCO Hall of Fame in 1993.
Survivors include son, Steve Reimer (Deborahanne), Lake
Forest, IL, and daughter, Jodi Tompkins (Jim), Denver, CO;
grandchildren, Ryan Tompkins (Kathryn), Matthew Tompkins,
Nicholas Nimmerfroh, Hunter Nimmerfroh and Jonathan (JR)
Reimer; great-granddaughter, Eloise Tompkins, and nephews,
Kevin and Todd Reimer. Dick was preceded in death by his
wife, Diane and daughter, Lori.
Services will be held on Monday, May 1 at 10:30 a.m. at St.
Peter Lutheran Church, 9300 E. Belleview Ave., Greenwood
Village.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to Grand
Junction Baseball Committee/JUCO, PO Box 100, Grand
Junction, CO. 81502.
