Darvin Locke passed away
April, 23, 2017, at his home,
he was 76.
Darvin was born on March
2, 1941 from the union of
Ernest and Mary Locke in
Phoenix, Arizonia. The family
moved to the Grand Junction
area when Darvin was a
young man and he graduated
from Central High School.
Shortly after graduation he and some of his friends joined the
United States Marine Corp. Upon returning home from his
service to our country, he married and went into business with
his brother, taking over Big J Roofing.
Darvin moved to Arizona for a few years but returned to
Grand Junction and eventually made De Beque, Colorado his
home. While in De Beque he was a member of the city council,
acted as Mayor pro tem, and was a big contributor to Wild
Horse Days. You could find him tinkering around the yard or on
the side of a river bank fishing most any time. If you saw him
sitting somewhere he was sure to have a smile and a Bud Light.
Darvin was a loved member of the community and will be
greatly missed.
Darvin leaves behind two daughters, Kathryn Locke of Grand
Junction and Debora Lanam of Fruita, Colorado; sisters, Patricia
Ferguson of Plainville, Connecticut; Geraldine Cruze, Vicky
Vaughn and Judy Locke all of Grand Junction; six
grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren, and 19 nieces and
nephews and their families. He was preceded in death by his
parents and older brother, Carl Edward Locke.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, April 28, 2017,
from 6 - 9:00 p.m. at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1247,
