Filemon Lovato died at the Vail Valley Medical Center Saturday, oct. 13. He was 64. Mr. Lovato was born in Las Tablas, NM on September 11, 1926. His parents were te late Daniel Lovato, Sr., and Carlota Griego Lovato. Mrs. Lovato survives hers on and lives in Leadville. Mr. Lovato was an electrician and worked for New Jersey Zinc. He was first a trustee for the local Steel Workers of American Union and then became secretary and then president. He loved music. As a young boy, at the age of 12, eh was playing for weddings and played many different instruments including trumpet, accordion, organ, piano, guitar, and saxophone. He also loved fishing and hunting. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Grace Pena Lovato and a brother, Tommy Lovato. Mr. Lovato is survived by his wife, Dorothy of Red Cliff; two songs, Robert Lovato F(ran) and Phillip Lovato (Joan) both of Leadville; Five daughters, Ida Trujillo (Marcelino) of Las Veas, Kathy Fausett (John, of San Jose, CA, Darlene Montano (Al) of Eagle, Christine Tafoya (Gerald) of Buena Vista, CO and Donna Trujillo (Robert) o Boulder; four sisters, Sarah Manzanarez of Albuquerque, NM; Stella Gomez, of El Rancho, NM; Lola Griego of Espanola, NM and GIlbert of Leadville. Pallbearers were Russell and Charles Trujillo, Manual Pacheco, Dean Martinez, Jerome Trujillo, Jarrod Tafoya, Bobby Lovato, Lester Griego, Melvin and Steven Valez. Interment took place in Riverview Cemetery in Minturn and a reception followed.
