Old Resident Dies From Fire Injuries

MRS. JENNIE MACHIN DIED in GLENWOOD SUNDAY FROM INJURIES SUSTAINED IN HER HOME ON SWEETWATER.

Mrs. Jennie Machin died In a Glenwood hospital last Sunday evening, June 16, a victim of burns received the day before in her tent home on Sweetwater. The elderly lady, widow of the late George Machin, was alone when the accident occured, but information given by the neighbors is that her clothing became ignited when she used kerosene to build a tire in her home on the Jim Boni ranch Saturday morning. She ran to a nearby stream of water to exun&ush the flames and returned to ntr tent, changed clothing and packed a small suitcase, then walked to Sweetwater lake to seek someone 10 lake her to a hospital for treatment and care. Ihe seriousness of the burns was such that the attend- * mg physician stated Saturday that she could not recover. Death came the following evening. Mrs. Machin has been residing in her tent home since the sale of the Machin ranch several months ago. She had been a resident of Sweetwater since 1914, when she came from Glenwood to keep house for George Machin. In November, 1925, she was united in marriage to Mr. Machin and since had resided in the community. Mr. Machin died in 1944. The deceased was born in 1672 near Crested Butte, and spent her girlhood near Glenwood Springs, kittle information was learned concerning her earlier life. It is known that a daughter Bell, but whose last name is not known, resides somewhere in the east. Funeral services were held in Glenwood on Wednesday, and burial was in the v Glenwood cemetery. X
