Shafter “General” Dixon Jr., 92, Grand Junction, died June 1,
2017, at HopeWest and Palliative Care Center.
No services will take place.
He was a foreman in the oil industry.
Survivors include two sons, John and Mike, both of Grand Junction;
one daughter, Shelly Forsman of Clifton; five grandchildren;
and two great-grandchildren.

Junior Dixon, 92, passed
away at HopeWest Hospice in
Grand Junction, Colorado on
June 1, 2017. Junior was born
to General and Leona Dixon
in London, AR.
While working at the
Rangely oil field in Dinosaur,
Colorado, he met a young
widow and mother of three by the name of Jackie Nelson.
Junior and Jackie were married in 1970 and shared over 46
years of marriage until her passing just this last April.
Junior was an avid gardener and always had a beautiful and
large garden to which he was always sharing his harvests. He
also enjoyed baseball, camping, fishing, and most of all,
spending time with his grandchildren building forts and eating
ice cream.
Junior is survived by his step-sons, John and Mike Nelson of
Grand Junction, Colorado; step-daughter, Shelly Forsman of
Clifton, Colorado; five grandchildren, and two greatgrandchildren.
