PIONEER OF McCOY NEIGHBORHOOD DIES .

Phillip J . Maxwell for fifty-two years a resident of Eagle county , living near McCoy , died ; in Gleuwood Springs last Sunday , December 20 , after an illness of a few days . While in Glenwood , Mr . Maxwell fell on the pavement and injure ! himself a few days before his death . While his injuries were quite serious , they were not necessarily fatal , but he also suffered a nervous breakdown and death came rapidly . The deceased was horn in Clark county , Missouri , February 8 , 1858 , and come with his parents to Jefferson county Colorado , In 1867 , when he was but nine years of age . The family moved to the McCoy neighborborhood in 1884 , where Phillip lived the rest of his life , with the exception of a few years spent in Idaho . The family were the first white settlers in that part of the coun . y , and his mother was the first white woman to be buried at McCoy . Mr . Maxwell was a good neighbor , a splendid citizen , and the passing of his kind from the country la to be regretted . He is survived by hla widow and their three children—Elliott of McCoy ; Mrs . Tillie Gates

Emma Stahl of Victor ; and a son , Ray , by a former marriage . ¦ Funeral service : ; were held at McCoy Wednesday afternoon , attended by a large concourse of old frieDds and neighbors . Rev . T . B . McDivitt of the Eagle Community Methoiist church delivered the funeral discourse . At the services Mrs . Reuben Stifel and Mrs . Harry Groh sang a number 1 of duets , accompanied by Mrs . C . H . Moorhead . Pall bearers , all old neighbors , were Perry Ault , Harry Groh , Roy Clacfimb , Howard Van Horn , Dot Bedell and Harold Chambers . The body was laid to rest in the McCoy cemetery . , a The seventeen month old daughter of Mr . and Mrs . John Dilly passed away last Friday after a very short illness of pneumonia . Short funeral services were held Sunday from the Andre funeral home in -Eagle , with Rev . McDivitt Jn charge and burial was made in the Eagle cemetery . The little girl is survived by her parents , a brother and two sisters . The community offers its sincere sympathy to the beret * ved family . 0 Merry Christm / ia to you all .
