Ray L. Miller of New Castle, died Saturday, April 13, 2002, at his home. He was 80.

Mr. Miller was born Oct. 21, 1921, at Hays Center, Neb., to Noble D. and Lucinda E. (Lamb) Miller. He was raised in Yuma and attended school in Eckley, Colo. He served in the Army.

He married Ruth Peters on Aug. 16, 1942. The couple previously owned a ranch at Edwards and lived in Eagle. They lived in New Castle for the past 15 years. Mr. Miller loved the ranching life.

Mr. Miller was preceded in death by daughters Carol Jean Davis and Billie Lou Miller.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth Miller, of New Castle; by sons and daughters-in-law Gary R. Miller of Eagle, Steven L. and Marguerite Miller of Glenwood Springs, and Martin D. and Brenda Miller of New Castle; by daughters and sons-in-law Shelley and Ernie Lohrman of Edwards, Marilyn Pope of Wray, and Laura and Porter Toft of New Castle; by a sister, Viola Gant of Washington, D.C.; and 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A funeral service is set for 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 17, at the Silt Congregational Church. Burial will follow at Divide Creek Union Cemetery near Silt.
