Grand Junction Daily Sentinel page 8A Obituary - July 14, 2017

Jared James Goebel, 29, of
Grand Junction, Colorado,
passed away on July 9, 2017.
Jared was born in Austin,
Minnesota, on June 25, 1988,
to Dean and Sue Goebel, and
welcomed home by his sister,
Tessa, to the little town of
Blooming Prairie, where his
birth made the front page
news. He started school in
Grand Forks, ND, and attended Pomona Elementary, West
Middle School, and graduated from GJHS, with Tiger Pride. He
recently completed Lineman School at CMU and was looking
forward to continued work in the energy services industry that
he had been employed in over the past ten years. Jared would
say he was Minnesota born and Coloradan grown.
Jared had that special touch with all creatures, great and small -
there are two dogs and a cat that are missing him already.
“Kind, sweet, contagious smile, a friend” are thoughts and
words the people who know and love him will use as they recall
his spirit. Jared was a physical man who loved to play sports; he
wrestled and played football and rugby (and if Clash of Clans
counted, he’d be an Olympian.)
Jared is survived by parents, Dean and Sue; sister, Tessa;
grandparents, Don and Zerline Goebel, and Jim and Susan
Mollison; his Goebel uncles and aunts, Mike and Karen, Dave
and Penny, Darrin and Kelly, and Louann; and his Mollison
uncles and aunts, Deborah, Dan, John and Sue, and Craig. So
rich in family, he had literally hundreds of great aunts and
uncles and cousins - special ones, Bryce, Drew, Seth, Micah,
Abigail, Hannah, Molly, Alyssa, Connor, Laura, Erin, Kimberly,
Annie, Maggie, Curtis, Abigail, Jacklyn, and Justin - he always
marveled in this - he knew Love.
Jared was preceded in his death by his grandma, Sue Mollison,
and his aunt, Vickie Woodward; there is peace in knowing they
will be together. In fact, we think he may have had a hand in the
rain these past few days, for he knew we needed it; the rains
were Heaven sent.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to
C.L.A.W.S., or Roice Hurst Humane Society, or the charity of
your choice.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July
15, at The Avalon, 645 Main Street.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Callahan-Edfast
Mortuary. Think colorful watches, sunglasses, and baseball caps
- he never asked for much and it’s what he would have wanted.
