Sara "Sadie" Margaret Foster
died at RoseMark at Mayfair
Park Assisted Living in
Denver, March 18, 2017.
A memorial service will be
held at 10:00 a.m. on July 22
at St. Matthew’s Episcopal
Church, Grand Junction,
Colorado, for both Sara and
her husband, Harry (Hap)
Foster.
Sara was born June 18, 1926, in Hamburg, Arkansas, the
youngest of five children, to Scott and Margaret (Baird) Savage.
She spent her early life in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, graduating
from high school and going on to attend college at Henderson
State, majoring in education.
After graduating from college, Sara moved to Gunnison,
Colorado, where she worked as the secretary to the president of
Western State College. It was here she met her future husband,
Harry "Hap" Foster.
After Hap earned his degree in education, the couple moved to
Fruita, Colorado. Sara was a devoted stay-at-home mom to their
two girls. When the girls were older, she went to work as a high
school librarian at Grand Junction High School.
After retiring, Sara and Hap traveled extensively to other
countries. Sara loved showing the picture of her riding a camel.
She hiked most of the Grand Canyon with friends and loved
going on 100-mile bike rides. She rode her bike at every
opportunity. She was also an avid bridge player and played until
the last year of her life.
After her husband, Hap, passed away, she moved to Lander,
Wyoming, and was a member of the Hospital Auxiliary and
worked in the hospital gift shop. She was also a long-time
member of PEO in Grand Junction and Lander.
Sara is survived by daughters, Margaret (John) Applegate of
Lander, Wyoming, and Kathleen (Paul) Arevian of Denver,
Colorado; grandchildren, Jennifer (Jared) Hamilton of Hudson,
Wyoming, and Ross Nauman of Bozeman, Montana, and three
great-granddaughters.
Her husband, parents, and siblings preceded her in death.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Cornerstone
Christian School, 80 Mortimer Lane, Lander, Wyoming 82520.
