Epimenio “Paul” Garcia, 71, Grand Junction, died July 29, 2017, at HopeWest and Hospice Care Center. Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary. Rosary will follow at 8 p.m. at the mortuary. A service will take place at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will be at 1 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery of Western Colorado. He was a construction foreman. Survivors include two daughters, Paula Garcia Gurule of Grand Junction and Wendy Perez of Laramie, Wyoming; one brother, Charles Garcia of Grand Junction; four sisters, Ruth Marquez of Grand Junction, Sarah Kiana of Anchorage, Alaska, Lettie Moore of Farmington, New Mexico, and JoAnn Skrbinsek of Florida; and five grandchildren. Epimenio “Paul” Garcia, 71, passed away on July 29, 2017, at HopeWest Care Center with his family by his side. He was born on July 26, 1946, in Pagosa Springs, CO, to Epimenio Garcia and Cleotilda Montoya. He later moved to the Fruita area where he attended Fruita Monument High School. He proudly served in the US Navy from 1967 to 1971 and was a P.O.W. Paul worked in the construction/concrete business and then retired. After he retired he enjoyed restoring his 1931 Model A Ford from scratch, “Lola”. Paul was always a family man. He loved helping others and spending time with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed his weekly “Dragon Crew” meetings at the VA. He was the best father and grandfather ever! He is survived by his daughter, Paula (Laurence) Gurule; stepdaughter, Wendy Perez; siblings, Ruth Marquez of Grand Junction; Sarah (Chris) Kiana of Alaska; Charles Garcia of Grand Junction; Joanne Skrbinsek of Florida, and Lettie Moore of Farmington, NM; his grandchildren, Kristianne, Trey, Chance, Chase, and Josiah; and numerous aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, and many friends. Paul was one of the most gentle and kindest men ever known, and will be greatly missed by all. Until we meet again. Viewing will be at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary, Wednesday, August 2, at 7:00 p.m., with a Rosary at 8:00 p.m.. Funeral services will be at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church on Thursday, August 3, at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Veterans Cemetery, and a dinner at St. Joseph’s Church at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to HopeWest, 3090B N. 12th Street, Grand Junction, CO 81506.
