Gulling Offerson Dies of Injuries Sustained in Car Accident on June 25

After 1 ingering between life and death for ten days , Gulling Offerson died last Saturday morning , July 5 , at the Gilman hospital where he had been since being sctruck by an automobile driven by E . D . Blodgett in the highway near the Offerson home in the Avon vicinity . From the first , Mr . Offerson s recovery was very doubtful , and he never gained full consciousness after the tragtedyv M ) c . Offerson was lone of the county s foremost citizens and prosperous ranchmen . He had served the county for several terms as commissioner , was a director in the First National Bank of Eagle county , and was foremost in all progressive matters pertaining to the county and community . The funeral held in Minturn Wednesday afternoon , was one of the largl est held in the county for many yeaTa ,

the large attendance from all over the county attesting to the high esteem in which he was held by his fellow men . The services were under the auspices of the Masonic order , he being a member of the lodge at Minturn . The Eagle lodge co-operated in the services . Rev . T . B . McDivitt , formerly pastor of the Eagle Methodist church , now of Alamosa , delivered the funeral sermon , and his discourse was most impressive . Burial was made in the cemetery at Glenwood Springs , where Mr . Offerson had reserved a family burying plot several years ago . Out of respect for the deceased , the Eagle County courthouse was closed Wednesday afternoon for the funeral , as was also the First National Bank , and a great many friends of the deceased from Eagle and vicinity attended the services in Minturn .
