Georgia passed into eternity
on July 25, 2017, at
HopeWest Hospice Care
Center.
Georgia was born to George
Roy and Ethel Dora Henricy
on June 7, 1920, in Loveland,
CO. She spent her childhood
in Fruita where she graduated
from Fruita Monument High School.
There she met and later married her husband of 65 years,
Weldon VandenHeuvel. They raised three daughters, Joyce Ann,
Janice Kay, and Joan Gay, while farming 80 acres. In 1975 they
bought Van’s Red Lake hunting and fishing lodge in Red Lake,
Ontario. After selling the lodge in 1983, they moved to Mesa,
CO. There they lived for 20 years. While living in Mesa,
Georgia worked as a CNA for Plateau Valley Nursing Home.
In 2006, Georgia moved to Grand Junction to live with her
daughter, Joan, and son-in-law, Don Legg. She was an active
member at Bookcliff Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening,
reading, fishing, camping, playing cards, music, and traveling.
She traveled to Canada, Europe, Mexico, and most of the U.S.,
including Hawaii and Alaska.
Georgia was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two
daughters, one granddaughter, one grandson, three brothers, and
three sisters. She is survived by her daughter, Joan (Don) Legg;
four grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren, and three greatgreat-
grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary at
10:30 a.m. on Friday, July 28. Graveside services will be held at
Memorial Gardens at 1:00 p.m.

Georgia Roye VandenHeuvel, 97, Grand Junction, died July
25, 2017, at HopeWest and Palliative Care Center.
Services will take place at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Callahan-Edfast
Mortuary. Burial will be at 1 p.m. at Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Survivors include one daughter, Joan Legg of Grand Junction;
four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and three great
great-grandchildren.
