The Lord called one of his best home on March 20, when Charles Thomas Patterson left Denver to spend eternity with Jesus. He was born on Feb. 20, 1958, in Dallas to parents Dean and JoAnn Patterson.

Charles attended Texas Tech University after graduating from MacArthur High School in Irving, Texas, in 1976. Then, in 1985, he was married to Lisa Berrier in Irving, Texas. Charles was an extremely brave and giving man. It was most seen in his walk of faith and his years of service through the fire department. His career began with 12 years of service with the Dallas Fire Department, seven years of service with the Monitor (Wash.) Fire Department and continuing with his service with the Eagle County Airport Fire and Rescue beginning in 2004. He helped so many and was a leader in all he set his mind to do.

He is survived by his wife, Lisa; one daughter, Brooklynn and Jim Bob Stapleton; two sons, Garrison and Carson; four grandchildren, Clay (14 years), Ashlynn (10 years), Jadeyn (7 years) and Bray (7 months). His family is thankful for his sarcasm, unmatched wit, and the blessing of such a great role model in their life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dean and JoAnn Patterson, and a sister, Deanna Ann Patterson.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 5 p.m. at Calvary Christian Fellowship, 35 Lindbergh Drive in Gypsum (970-524-1463), where Charles was an active part of the fellowship and a member of the Worship Team. Pastor Eric Collom will serve as the officiant.

Memorials have been established for the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation and Calvary Christian Fellowship Worship Team.

Those who love don’t go away; they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near. Still loved, still missed.
