Belly Jane Phillips

Betty Jane Wilson was born in Dade County, Missouri February 28, 1866 and was married to John P Phillips in 1885. For more than 60 years she had made her home in the Yampa country, pioneering with her husband the Egeria Park areaAs members of the Congregational Church, Mr. and Mrs. Phillips Were instrumental in the erection of the church building, and their names appear in the cornerstone of the building. Mr. Phillips was one at the first deacons in the church the first member to be taken into the Masonic Lodge of that ityMr- and Mrs. Phillips were parents of Elta Rhodes, Yampa; Hartley, Colbran; Jim, Gypsum; Robedt, Eagle; Margy Reifinstall, Oxnard, Calif.; Amy Brown, Colbran; Lewis, McCoy; Joe, Gypsum and John who passed away in 1948, Mr. Phillips died in 1938- There are 50 grandchildren and greatgrandchildren in the Phillips family. Mrs. Phillips passed away at her home In Yampa July 5- She had suffered a stroke last autumn and had ?been confir >d to her home since-

Recently she became ill with pneumonia and suffered a second stroke. Interment was in the Yampa cemetery beside the bodies of her husband and her son. M. L. Burgett, now in Government service, who gave the funeral service when MrPhillips died, gave the service for Mrs Phillips,, assisted by Rev. Elwood Jordan, pastor of the Yampa Congregational church. The Eastern Star chapter of Yampa, of which she was a charter member, of the graveside service, and the chapter choir sang ‘‘Abide With Me," "When the Roll is Called Up Yonder,’’ and "Some Day We’ll Understand” accompanied on the piano by Miss Helen Male, in the church. Six of the deceased lady’s grandsons were pall bearers.
