Larry Dale McKay, 66,
passed away September 25,
2017, surrounded by his
loving family. He was born
June 29, 1951, in Trenton,
Missouri, to Clyde and Mary
McKay.
Larry grew up in Hamilton,
Illinois, where he graduated
from Hamilton High School
in 1969. In 1974, Larry joined
the US Air Force, graduating with honors from the Electrical
Power Production Specialist course. He was stationed at
Williams AFB in Arizona with the 82 Air Base Group, and
served during the Vietnam War.
Larry moved to Colorado in 1986, where he spent 25 years
working for Colorado State Parks as a Maintenance Technician,
retiring in 2012. He loved to fish and shoot guns, and enjoyed
quality TV time at home.
Larry was a loving and devoted father, and is survived by his
two daughters, Ana McKay of Fruita, Colorado, and Jenna
McKay of Grand Junction, Colorado. He is also survived by his
sister, Janet (Phil) Amann of Hamilton, Illinois; his brother,
Dennis (Joyce) McKay of Hamilton, Illinois; and numerous
nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde McKay and
Mary McKay.
Larry will be laid to rest at the Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery,
and no services will be held at his request. In lieu of flowers, his
family requests donations be made to Veterans’ Cemetery Fund
at 2836 Riverside Parkway, Grand Junction, CO 81501.

Larry Dale McKay, 66, Fruita, died Sept. 25, 2017, at St. Mary’s Medical Center. No services will take place. He worked for the state parks. Survivors include two daughters, Ana McKay of Fruita, and Jenna McKay of Grand Junction; one brother, Dennis McKay of Hamilton, Illinois; and one sister, Janet Amann of Hamilton. Memorial contributions to the Veterans Cemetery Fund, 2830 Riverside Parkway, Grand Junction 81501.
