CARL THOMAS RAY.

Carl Thomas Ray was born Sept. 12, 1920, at La Veta, Colo., and departed this life on Sept. 3, 1945, at teh age of 24 years, 11 months and 21 days, Mr. Ray with his parents came to Wolcott while still an infant, later moving to Glenwood Springs, where they resilded for a number of years before returning to Wolcott, and then to Canon City, where the deceased graduated from high school. After graduation from school Mr. Ray came to Eagle, vrhere he was employed at the Conoco Service station. On Nov. 15, 1941 he was united in marriage to Miss Johnnie Clark of Eagle, and resided here until his enlistment in the air corps in April, 1942, serving his country for over three years. He suddenly became ill at Amarillo, Tex., in March of this year and since that time has been a patient in army hospitals. He was discharged from the army a short time ago, and since that time was in the Veteran’s hosptal at Cheyenne, Wyo. He leaves to mourn his loss, his beloved wife, Johnnie, of Eagle; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Ray, of Tucson, Ariz.; a brother, Elzie, of Leadville; three sisters, Bonnie Hendrickson of Swink, Mayme Peate of Wolcott; Betty Schlof of Tucson. Another brother, Lt. Silas Ray, lost his life on a mission over Saarbrucken, Germany, July 19, 1944, while in the line of duty. Also surviving are two neices, 6 nephews, and other relatives. Burial was at Eagle under the direction of Mortician Paul Andre, last Wednesday, Sept. 5. Rev. J. W. Bartrug delivered the funeral address.

CARL RAY DIES IN CHEYENNE ARMY HOSPITAL.

Death came to Carl Ray early Monday morning in a Cheyenne, Wyo., hospital following many months of illness. News of his passing was met with deep sorrow for the great number of people who were friends of the young man. Funeral services were held from the Methodist church in Eagle Wednesday afternoon with burial in the Eagle cemetery. Mr. Ray had made Eagle his home before his enlistment in the army air corps in the spring of 1942, five months after his marriage to Miss Johnny Clark of Eagle. He had received his discharge from the army but a few weeks ago. For the past several months he has been a patient in army hospitals, a victim of leucemia, contracted while in the service. While he had no overseas service, Mr. Ray had been stationed at various air fields throughout the west and southwest. He was employed by the Conoco Service station and the Eagle River Electric company in Eagle previous to his army service. Among those who survive are his widow and sister, Mrs. Roy Peate, who resides at Wolcott. A brother, Lt. Silas Ray, was killed while in the service of the army air corps overseas several months ago.
