Grand Junction Daily Sentinel page 3D Obituary - October 1, 2017

After a prolonged illness,
Janie passed away at the Mesa
Manor Rehabilitation Center.
She was born to Stanley and
Mary Mazur in Wilmerding,
Pennsylvania, and lived in
Level Green, PA, for most of
her early years.
She was a graduate of Mt.
Mercy Academy in Pittsburgh,
and went on to earn her art
teaching degree at Edinboro
University in western
Pennsylvania. She was a
master teacher, teaching
elementary art for 32 years in
the Montour School District
outside of Pittsburgh, where
she is well remembered for
her dedication to her students
and taking it upon herself to
decorate all her schools for
the holidays for the enjoyment
of all her students and fellow
faculty members. She retired in 1996.
Janie and Lloyd Hunley married in Chinle, AZ, in 1992, and
they continued to live in western PA until her retirement,
moving to Grand Junction in 1996.
She enjoyed traveling and sight-seeing, visiting Great Britain,
France, and Thailand, many U.S. national parks and
monuments, and especially took great delight visiting zoos
around the country. Her interests were many and varied,
including creating her own artwork, reading extensively, and
was a constant contributor to a wide variety of charities. She
wanted it to be known that she was extremely appreciative of
the excellent care, compassion, comfort, and friendship she
received during her last months from the entire staff at Mesa
Manor Rehabilitation Center.
She is survived by her husband; sister, Marian Vollmer (Regis)
of Pittsburgh; brother, William Mazur (Janet) of Houston; five
nephews and nieces; and several grandnieces and nephews; and
will be forever missed by all.
There are no planned memorial services. It was her wish that
anyone wanting to make memorial contributions on her behalf,
that they be sent to Mesa Manor in Grant Junction and/or
HopeWest.
She will be dearly missed and never forgotten.
