Ruth C. Johnson passed
away quietly and peacefully
on Sunday, October 1, 2017,
after a short illness and stay at
the Hospice Care Center in
Grand Junction.
Born an "East Coast City
Girl" in Stafford Springs, CT,
Ruth met Rich, a "Handsome-
Colorado-Cowboy-Navy-
Sailor" on a blind date in
February, 1960. Although told by Rich’s father that the
marriage would never last…"she’s too hi-falooton different",
Rich disagreed and persevered marrying her just eight months
later and loving her unconditionally for the next 57 years.
Loving to drive and often feeling "the need for speed" Ruth
was an active volunteer until her last couple of years. Whether it
was assisting the RSVP program, Meals on Wheels or
Community Hospital, Ruth never stopped "doing".
Ruth is survived by her loving husband, Richard B. Johnson,
and her two daughters, Penny Lyons (Dan) and Kimberly
Giannone (Joseph).
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday,
October 14th at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary.
Loving contributions are graciously accepted for Hospice Care
Center and Roist-Hurst Humane Society.
Although her life concealed pain her friends were unaware of,
the family invites you to join them in honor of her strength and a
celebration of unconditional love, joy and, finally, peace.

Ruth C. Johnson, 85, Grand Junction, died Oct. 1, 2017, at
HopeWest Hospice Care Center.
Services will take place at 3 p.m. Oct. 14 at Callahan Edfast Mortuary.
She was a secretary.
Survivors include her husband, Richard B.; and two daughters,
Penny Lyons and Kimberly A. Giannone, both of Grand Junction.
