Magdalena was born in Del
Norte, Colorado to Maria
Fedelina and Jose Adolfo
Galvan, one of 15 children.
She was raised in the San Luis
Valley until 1955, when the
family moved to Grand
Junction, Colorado. She
married Ben Montano, they
later divorced.
She enjoyed spending time
with her children, grandchildren, and family. Collecting salt and
pepper shakers was a joy in her life, accumulating over 1,000
sets. She also enjoyed crocheting, embroidery, making rosaries,
and dancing. She adopted Pepe and he became her constant
companion.
She moved to Pueblo in 2004, and married Jack Fisk. God was
very important in her life, she relied on him throughout the loss
of her daughter, and her husband. She belonged to the Council
of Catholic Women in Pueblo, Colorado and was a member of
Holy Family Parish.
Her final years were spent enjoying the company of Leroy
Vigil, he was her constant companion and assisted her
throughout the trails of her illness.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Jack Fisk; daughter,
Bernie Johnson; son-in-law, Larry Atencio; her parents;
brothers, Remijio "Brother", Gilbert, and Luis Galvan. She is
survived by her aunt Mary Valdez; daughters, Zita Atencio,
Sally Montano, and Valerie Cano; brothers, Michael, Fr. Lucas,
Modesto (Phyllis), Jose Jr. (Laurie), and Andrew (Kirsten)
Galvan; sisters, Dorotea (Dave) Pineda, Eloisa Renteria, Martha
Garcia, Lucy Galvan, Juanita (Leo) Fisk, and Virginia (John)
Painter; 16 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at St. Joseph Parish in Grand Junction,
Colorado on July 28, 2017. Rosary will be at 1:30 p.m. with the
Mass of Resurrection at 2:00 p.m. Inurnment will be at Orchard
Mesa Cemetery following the Mass. The family requests that
blue be worn in her honor.
