Alfred J. Goffredi, cherished husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2017, in Colorado Springs, Colorado surrounded by family. He was born in Crested Butte, Colorado on April 22, 1922, the youngest of three children born to John and Annie Goffredi. His family moved to Palisade, Colorado in 1923, and Al spent over 90 years calling the Grand Junction area home. His family ran multiple peach and apricot farms which instilled a lifelong
love of nature in Al. His favorite place to be found was on Grand Mesa enjoying the land, fishing and hunting. Later in his
life, Al became a member of Snowskippers Snowmobile Club and Mesa County Search and Rescue Snowmobile Division.
Al leaves behind his wife, Laura Goffredi; children, Dave (Pam) Goffredi, Rodge (Colleen) Goffredi, Paul (Karen) Goffredi, and Natalie Goffredi; 13 grandchildren; three greatgrandchildren, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his oldest son, Rick. In 1941, Al graduated from Mesa College (today known as Colorado Mesa University) and went on to get his BA and MA at Western State College after serving three years in the Air Force during World War II. He proudly served in the European Theater in England, Ireland, France, and Germany in the 8th and
9th Air Forces. Mesa College was lucky to have Al in their service from 1948-1979 in a multitude of roles, including
initiating 20 vocational programs, the development of a viable agriculture training center on campus, and being instrumental in bringing the MA in Business Administration to the college. During this time he also chaired many committees and was
involved in obtaining grants that have helped to build training centers on campus. In addition, Al served as a member of the
Mesa College Foundation Board for 12 years, including one year as president. Al always valued education, displayed in his proud family legacy of all four sons having Masters Degrees, and all grandchildren currently in college, or having already
obtained a Bachelors, Masters, or Doctorate Degree. In addition to his service at Mesa College, Al was serious about serving his Grand Junction community. During Al’s time as a member of the Grand Junction Rotary Club, he performed as Secretary for 12 years and President for two. He was also named a Paul Harris Fellow which is the highest individual honor given to a Rotary member. A memorial service will be held in Colorado Springs, Colorado for close family and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Colorado Mesa University Foundation - Goffredi Memorial Scholarship, 1450 N. 12th Street, Grand Junction, Colorado 81501.
