Russell G. “Russ” St John, 68, passed away at home Wednesday, August 9, 2017, surrounded by his family. Russ was born in Grand Junction, CO, and grew up in western Colorado. He was a veteran of the United States Army and was the recipient of the Vietnam Service Medal with three Bronze Service Stars. He was an avid fisherman and always enjoyed fishing trips to Canada with his father and brother. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Eva St John. He is survived by his wife, Jan St John; children, Cindy and Charlie Phillips, Melissa and Timmy Deal, Amy and Bill Nutting, Debra and Brian Carter, Jason and Maggi Gallagher, Jenee St John, and Darcey and Frank Dahl; grandchildren, Kylie, Laura, Michael, Whitney, Carson, Brantley, Hannah, Hollie, Virginia, Johnnie, Davis, Creed, Blaiden, Anne, Zoey, Kieran, and Thad; one great-grandchild, Lane; brother and sister-in- law, Larry and Judy St John; sister, Shelia; nephews, Chris, Lawrence, and Mark; nieces, Terri, Janet, Stacey, Beka, and Mianna. He will be missed by his buddies, Mortie and Lane. Visitation will be 6 - 7:00 p.m., Thursday, August 10, 2017, at Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 7:00 p.m. Private family burial with Military Honors will be in the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Glennville. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Pitt Hopkins Research Foundation (www.pitthopkins.org), PO Box 6257, Plymouth, MA 02362. You will be running fast tomorrow, Papa Russ.
