Zealtha Hangen
Moore Trice
September 12, 1925 - May 26, 2017
Zealtha M. Trice passed
peacefully in her home at the
age of 91.
She was born in Dayton,
OH, to Cleo John Hangen and
Glenna Welsh. She lived in
Dayton until 1943 when she
moved to Mobile, AL, to
work at the Army Air Base
that just opened. She met and married Francis Almer Moore of
Rangely, CO, who was stationed with the Navy at that time in
Pensacola, FL. They had one child, Vickie Sue, and were
happily married for 38 years, until his death in 1984.
She married Roy Fredrick Trice, Sr. in 1992, in Grand
Junction, CO, where they resided until her death; spending their
winters in the south and returning to their home in Grand
Junction each summer. She always said she was very lucky to
have met and married two very special men.
She was an accomplished seamstress and artist who loved to
dance. She was a skilled hunter and fisherwoman. Many nieces
and nephews in Rangely learned to fish, and some even to
shoot, from her. She had a vivacious personality and was hard
put to sit still. However, she showed the patience of Job with
children.
She is survived by her husband, Roy, of the home; daughter,
Vickie Claybaugh (James) of Rangely, CO; granddaughter,
Marjorie Widmer (John) of Rifle, CO; great-granddaughter,
Jessica Widmer of Grand Junction, CO; brother, Gaynor
Hangen of Grand Bay, AL; brother, Tom Hangen of Peachtree
City, GA, and brother, Jerry Hangen of Temecula, CA.
She is preceded in death by her first husband; parents; two
brothers, and four sisters.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Martin
Mortuary in Grand Junction on June 2, 2017, at 1:00 p.m. with
burial at Memorial Gardens immediately following.
Messages of condolences may be sent to
