William Arthur Houck, 72, Clifton, died Oct. 14, 2017, at St. Mary’s Medical Center.Services will take place at 11 a.m. Thursday at Monument Baptist Church.He was an engineer for the Colorado Department of Transpor-tation.Survivors include his wife, Janie R.; one son, Wade Aaron of Grand Junction; one brother, Earl of Grand Junction; and three grandchildren.

William Arthur Houck,
"Willie" or "Bill", of Clifton,
Colorado, passed away
October 14, 2017.
He was born November 29,
1944, in Pittsburg, KS. He
was raised in Cameo,
Colorado and graduated from
Palisade High School in 1962.
He married his high school
sweetheart, Janie (Emery), on
December 7, 1963.
He worked for CDOT until 1966 when he enlisted in the
USAF. He was honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant in
1970. During his time in the USAF, he enjoyed building and
racing stock cars. He rejoined CDOT and settled in Clifton, CO
with Janie.
Willie enjoyed motorcycle racing during this time spending
many weekends at the track racing or helping family and friends
at the track.
They had two sons before moving to Craig, Colorado in 1978,
where they enjoyed countless hunting and fishing trips.
Willie enjoyed coaching and officiating high school sports as
well as playing softball.
He retired from CDOT in 1998, after 34 years.
He and Janie spent several winters as "snowbirds" in Arizona,
where they enjoyed fishing and shopping along with visits from
family. They moved to Clifton, Colorado in 2002. He continued
to hunt and fish as well as taking several trips to NASCAR
events.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles C. and Bessie
Houck; brother, Charles Houck; sisters, Betsy Dean Prather and
Roseann Hardee, and son, Sean Houck.
He is survived by is wife of 53 years, Janie Houck of Clifton;
son, Wade (Eerin) Houck of Grand Junction; granddaughter,
Shanice Houck of Montrose; grandsons, Jordan Houck and
Trenton Houck, both of Grand Junction; brother, Earl (Treva)
Houck of Clifton, and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews,
friends and an extended church family.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 19,
2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Monument Baptist Church, 486 23 Road,
Grand Junction, Colorado. Internment will take place at a later
date.
