Betty Ruth Bush, 97, of
Austin, TX, formerly of
Mesquite, TX and Grand
Junction, CO, passed away on
October 17, 2017, at her home
in Austin.
She lived in Grand Junction
for 13 years before moving
back to Texas in December,
2016.
She will be buried next to
her husband, Lyndal Bush, at Restland Memorial Park in Dallas.

Betty Ruth Bush was born 97 years ago in the year 1920, before there was sound in movies, before ballpoint pens or parking meters were invented, and even before the Dust Bowl years or the Great Depression. Formerly of Mesquite, Texas and Grand Junction, Colorado, she passed away gracefully and peacefully at her home in Austin, Texas on October 17, 2017.
Born to Jesse James Cornell and Rosa Lee (Elmore) Cornell in Van Alstyne, Texas on May 1, 1920, she married Lyndal Bush on October 5, 1942 in Orlando, Florida. In addition to her parents and her husband, Betty was preceded in death by her brother Howard Alvis Cornell, and her brother James Leroy Cornell.
She is survived by her daughter, Lynda Rivers Bauer, and her son, Terry John Bush and his wife Lucretia of Forest Grove, Oregon. Her grandson, Jace Rivers and his wife Christie and their daughter Josephine of Austin, Texas. And her grandson Ryan Bush and her granddaughter Meredith Falbo of Portland, Oregon.
Betty’s early childhood was spent in Grayson County, Texas where she and her brother frequently rode the family horse to elementary school. She attended high school in Trenton, Texas and attended college at Eastfield in Mesquite, Texas.
As a member of numerous guilds, she enjoyed and excelled at arts & crafts, including weaving, spinning, knitting, crocheting, china painting and many other disciplines, and enjoyed making gifts for her friends. She always approached life with a cheerfulness and a deep faith in God and read her bible daily. Always ready for an adventure, she and a girlfriend traveled across the country and over the Rocky Mountains towing a 32’ foot trailer at the age of 70.
After living in Colorado for 13 years, she finally returned home to her beloved Texas in 2016 and enjoyed spending time with her great granddaughter, Josephine until her last days. Now she rests at peace with the Lord next to her husband at Restland Memorial Park in Dallas, Texas.
Funeral service will take place on Wednesday, October 25 at 10 AM at the Abbey Chapel at Restland Funeral Home.
