There will be a Celebration of Life for Matthew Serencko at Rex’s American Grill and Bar on May 23, from 2 to 4 pm. Please join us to honor Matt and share stories and remembrances.
Matt was born in Meriden, CT, moving with his family to Steamboat Springs when he was 2 years old. Upon graduation from Steamboat Springs High School, he attended the New England Culinary Institute in Vermont. He was a chef at Le Cirque and Commander’s Palace in Las Vegas. In 2004, he moved to Garmisch-Partenkirken, Germany, where he continued his career. He passed away there suddenly on November 26, 2017.
Matt is survived by his wife, Sladana (Sladi) Halavanja of Garmisch-Partenkirken; his mother, Janice Serencko of Nobleboro, Maine and Lake Wales, Florida; his brother, Christopher Serencko of Denver, Colorado; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his father, George Serencko.
