Evaristo (Evy) Rivera went home to be with our Lord and Savior on Wednesday.
He was born in Encino, N.M., May 4, 1941, to Jose and Eva Rivera.
He is survived by his wife, Rose Archibeque, who he married Sept. 12, 1959.
Evaristo and Rose moved to Red Cliff, and he worked in the Gilman Mine and for the town of Red Cliff, Eagle County and Eagle County School District. They were blessed with two wonderful daughters, Francine Tafoya and husband Jim and EvieAnn Leyba and husband Richard. He was a grandfather to 17 grandchildren and a great-grandfather to 23 great-grandchildren. He had five brothers, Elijo (Emma), Adan (Juanita), Robert (Marvline), Ismael (Mary Helen) and Joey (Loretta), and one sister, Oralia (Ignacio). Evaristo was preceded in death by his parents, grandson Evy Santana Rivera and a great-grandson, Benjamin Scott Hamilton III. Evaristo had many nephews, nieces and friends.
He loved hunting, fishing and the outdoors, and he was an expert shot. He loved to sing, dance and play his guitar. He is home in heaven, and he will be greatly missed.
Memorial services will be held at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Colorado Springs, located at 1830 S. Corona Ave.
