Samuel Slaughter October 2, 1932 - August 14, 2017
Samuel Grey Slaughter, 84, died peacefully on Monday evening, August 14, 2017, at his home in Grand Junction. Born on October 2, 1932, in Newport, Washington, he was the son of Dorris and Henry Slaughter. Sam was preceded in death by Elizabeth, his wife of 50 years. He is survived by sister, Margaret; daughters, Marilyn, Allison, Stacey and Diane; son, Stephen; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, and one grand-dog. Sam joined the Army at 17 and was a veteran of the Korean War as a missile maintenance expert, retiring as a CW3. He then started businesses Custom Forms, Custom Micro, and Action Printing which he ran for 25 years. He was active in Sertoma. Post-retirement, he dealt blackjack in Cripple Creek. He and Beth resided in Colorado Springs for 45 years where they enjoyed RVing, bowling, reading, and attending baseball and football games. Sam will be greatly missed for his love of family, his sense of humor, his adventurous spirit, and his gentle and easy-going nature. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 26, at 2:00 p.m. at the Atrium in Grand Junction. Please consider a memorial contribution to the VFW or Keenesburg Wild Animal Sanctuary.

Samuel Grey Slaughter, 84, Grand Junction, died Aug. 14, 2017, at the Atrium of the Grand Valley. Services will be at 2 p.m. Aug. 26 at the Atrium of the Grand Valley. He retired from the U.S. Army and was a business owner. Survivors include one son, Stephen of Denver; four daughters, Merilyn Dennett of San Antonio, Texas, Allison Talcott of Vista, California, Stacey Pruett of Fruita, and Diane Bray of Colorado Springs; one sister, Margaret Troje of Tampa, Florida; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Memorial contributions to the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 1247, 1404 Ute Ave., Grand Junction 81501; or to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8517.
