Barbara Ann Patterson September 25, 1968 - August 15, 2017
Barbara Ann Patterson, 48, of Surprise, AZ, passed away in her home on Tuesday, August 15, 2017. Barbara was born September 25, 1968, to Dorothy Lee and Doyal Lee Patterson in Grand Junction, CO. She grew up with close-knit family in Colorado. At a young age Barbara developed wild curls, a contagious giggle and a love of dolls. She volunteered as a Candy Striper at St. Mary’s Hospital throughout high school. Following graduation from Palisade High School, she accepted a position in the NICU unit at St. Mary’sHospital, caring for the babies she so dearly loved. Barbara relocated with her family to Arizona in 1997 where she worked for United Health Care for over 20 years. Barbara was a a published author of children’s books and poetry. She found writing to be her connection to the world and her path to peace. She was deeply devoted to her family and friends. From offering up a shoulder to cry on to sending a cheerful message, Barbara was always eager to help anyone in need. Her story telling, poetry and writing were gifts to all. She was an exceptionally kind woman and always looked for the good in people. She is known for her selfless ways and her beautiful smile. Her hobbies included baking, collecting dolls, painting, writing, scrap booking, watching football, Bingo, and spending time with her family. Barbara had a deep love of the ocean, the Denver Broncos and good thunderstorms. She was also an avid cat enthusiast and leaves behind Prissy, her feline companion and friend. Survivors to cherish her memory include her mother, Dorothy Patterson; brother, Gary Patterson; sister, Connie Patterson; nieces, Shaunna, Megan, Amanda, and Chelsey, and nephews, Logan, Tyler, and Brendan. She is preceded in death by her grandparents and her beloved father, Doyal, whom she will be reunited with in heaven. Her loving heart and big smile along with her infectious laugh will be missed but never forgotten. While her passing is a great loss to us all, the love and light she leaves behind as her legacy is tremendous and will live on indefinitely in all those lucky enough to know her. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 22, 2017, at 1:00 p.m. in New Haven Church in Palisade, CO, 426 Kluge Street, and is open to the public. Former Grand Junction resident, Barbara Ann Patterson, 48, Surprise, Arizona, died Aug. 15, 2017, at her home. Visitation will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at New Haven Pentecostal Holiness Church in Palisade. Services will follow at 1:30 p.m at the church. Burial will be at the Palisade Municipal Cemetery. Survivors include her mother, Dorothy Patterson of Surprise; one brother, Gary Patterson of Colorado Springs; and one sister, Connie Patterson-Elliott of Surprise.
