Dorothy M. Maigatter June 30, 1921 - September 9, 2017
Dorothy Mildred Maigatter, 96, of Grand Junction, Colorado, passed away September 9, 2017 at Larchwood Inns. Dorothy was born in Norman, Oklahoma to J.W. and Maggie Hicks and joined her four sisters and six brothers. She moved to Mesa, Colorado in 1927. Dorothy married Frances Maigatter on January 24, 1940 in Moab, Utah. Two daughters were born from this union, Barbara and Audrey. The couple owned a ranch on Kansas Mesa for many years before moving to Collbran in 1966. They built the DJ Cafe and Lounge and Motel which they operated for many years. Dorothy loved being around people, bowling and shopping but most of all she loved dancing. Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Barbara Pratt of Brewerton, NY and Audrey (Martin) Glasser of Lewiston, Idaho; seven grandchildren: Pam Hawkins (Rudy Bevan) Loma, CO, Londa Wells of Ft. Worth, Texas, Martin Wayne Glasser, Gary Glasser, Mike Glasser, Amy (Paul) McCall of Lewiston Idaho and Donna (Gary)Callahan of Clarkston,Washington; two step-grandchildren, Jeff Pratt of Loma, CO and Eric (Colleen) Pratt of Palisade; 10 great-grandchildren; five step-greatgrandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; and two step-greatgreat-grandchildren. She is also survived by her special friend, constant companion and dance partner, Les Haller of Grand Junction CO. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frances Maigatter; her mom and dad; and all of her brothers and sisters. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2017 at 1 p.m. at Martins Mortuary. Burial will be held at Eaglelite Cemetery in Collbran at 4p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to HopeWest Hospice, 3090-B N. 12th St, Grand Junction CO 81506 Cards may be sent to Pam Hawkins, 1445 14 Rd, Loma, CO 81524. Martin’s Mortuary is assisting the family.
