Lucille (Summers) Hill March 14, 1919 - November 6, 2017
Lucy Hill, 98, of Palisade, CO passed away peacefully November 6, 2017, at St. Mary’s Hospital, surrounded by family. Lucy was born in Salem, MO, on March 14, 1919, to Jesse and Tressa Summers. Lucy and her family left Missouri in the mid-1920’s and moved to Grand Junction, CO. Lucy enjoyed anything that had to do with fashion. When she graduated from Grand Junction High School in 1940, Woodbury College in Hollywood offered her a scholarship. She instead chose to marry Malcolm Hill; they were married on July 20, 1940. Together they had three children. They moved to Collbran, CO and bought the L&M Mercantile in 1953, and ran it as a family for 26 years. In 1979 they moved to a small ranch just outside of Collbran for the next 11 years before eventually moving to Palisade, CO where she lived for the remainder of her life. Lucy is survived by three children, Betty (Larry) Plummer, Lana Hill, and Gary (Barbara) Hill, as well as six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and sister-in-law, Isabella Summers. She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Jesse "Buzz" Summers; great-grandson, Colten Didericksen, and husband, Malcolm Hill. Graveside services will be held Saturday, December 2, at 2:00 p.m. at Clover Cemetery with refreshments served immediately after at the Collbran Congregational Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Collbran Congregational Church, P.O. Box 160 Collbran, CO 81624. Services entrusted to Palisade Funeral Home.
