Nina Nicholson August 15, 1923 - December 28, 2017
Nina Marie Nicholson died the morning of Thursday, December 28, 2017, at Palisade Living Center in Palisade, Colorado, at the age of 94. Born Nina Marie Jackson on August 15, 1923 in St. Louis, Missouri, she was the middle child of three born to Germaine and Kenneth Jackson. Her older sister, Helen, was also born in St. Louis, while little brother, James, was born in Paris, France. The three young siblings would travel to France to visit their grandparents and spend summers there. With the onset of World War II, Nina joined the Navy. After the war, Nina enrolled in art school, where she met her future husband, Robert Nicholson. They married June 29, 1949. Bob and Nina had two daughters, Denise and Renee. Nina outlived both her daughters and her husband. She remained a generous and kind soul despite the tragedies that marked her life. She loved dance. She was fascinated by Koala bears. Always hospitable, she wanted to make sure everyone was taken care of. Nina is survived by brother, James Jackson of Washington, Missouri; five nieces and nephews, and friends in Colorado, Kansas, Missouri and California.
